²¹ He made Him who ^(A)knew no sin to be ^[a](B)sin in our behalf, so that we might become the ^(C)righteousness of God in Him.

Results of Justification

5 ^(A)Therefore, having been justified by faith, ^[a](B)we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, ² through whom we also have ^(C)obtained our introduction by faith into this grace ^(D)in which we stand; and ^[b]we celebrate in hope of the glory of God. ^3 (E)And not only this, but ^[c]we also ^(F)celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about ^(G)perseverance; ⁴ and ^(H)perseverance, ^(I)proven character; and proven character, hope; ⁵ and hope ^(J)does not disappoint, because the love of God has been ^(K)poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

⁶ For while we were still ^(L)helpless, ^(M)at the right time ^(N)Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For one will hardly die for a righteous person; ^[d]though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die. ⁸ But God ^(O)demonstrates ^(P)His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, ^(Q)Christ died for us. ⁹ Much more then, having now been justified ^[e](R)by His blood, we shall be saved ^(S)from the wrath of God through Him. ¹⁰ For if while we were ^(T)enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved ^[f](U)by His life.

Made Alive in Christ

2 And ^[a]you ^[b]were ^(A)dead ^[c]in your offenses and sins, ² in which you ^(B)previously walked according to the ^[d]course of ^(C)this world, according to ^(D)the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in ^(E)the ^[e]sons of disobedience.

^15 [a]He is the ^(A)image of the ^(B)invisible God, the ^(C)firstborn of all creation: ¹⁶ for ^[b](D)by Him all things were created, ^(E)both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether ^(F)thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—^(G)all things have been created through Him and for Him.

⁵ For there is ^(A)one God, and ^(B)one mediator also between God and mankind, the ^(C)man Christ Jesus, ⁶ who ^(D)gave Himself as a ransom for all, the ^(E)testimony ^[a]given at ^[b](F)the proper time.

¹⁷ Therefore, in all things He ^[a]had ^(A)to be made like His brothers so that He might ^(B)become a merciful and faithful ^(C)high priest in ^(D)things pertaining to God, to ^(E)make ^[b]propitiation for the sins of the people.

²⁶ For it was fitting for us to have such a ^(A)high priest, ^(B)holy, ^(C)innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and ^(D)exalted above the heavens; ²⁷ who has no daily need, like those high priests, to ^(E)offer up sacrifices, ^(F)first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because He did this ^(G)once for all time when He ^(H)offered up Himself.

A Better Ministry

8 Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a ^(A)high priest, who has taken His seat at ^(B)the right hand of the throne of the ^(C)Majesty in the heavens, ² a ^(D)minister ^[a]in the sanctuary and ^[b]in the ^(E)true ^[c]tabernacle, which the Lord ^(F)set up, not man.

Christ Is Our Advocate

2 ^(A)My little children, I am ^(B)writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, ^(C)we have an ^[a](D)Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; ² and He Himself is ^(E)the ^[b]propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also ^(F)for the sins of the whole world.
